About 20/20 Chocolates

Meet Alfredo

Founded by Alfredo and the entire Esteves family in Carabobo, Venezuela, their business concept originated in 2010 but was realized in 2017 when they began crafting artisanal chocolate bars at home.

Maaku, a true chocolate lover and Alfredo’s mother, created all of the packaging designs.

In 2019, chocolate making transitioned to a dedicated facility equipped with the necessary machinery to ensure the quality of their bars.

20/20 is passionate about promoting the origins of Venezuela and its high-quality cacao genetics. They utilize cacao from their own farms and local producers to create plain bars and unique inclusions that reflect elements of their local folklore. As tree-to-bar makers, they source cacao from the Mantuano and Yaracuy regions.

Notable inclusion bars feature flavors like mango verde with salt, Trinidad scorpion chili, chicha & canela, and Amazonian copoazu.

As of 2024, they have planted over 60,000 trees on their farms, including Hacienda Luna Clara and La Cocorota. Their goal is to continue growing to provide chocolate enthusiasts worldwide with high-quality bars made from sustainable Venezuelan cacao.

Why We Love Them

FARMERS + MAKERS

20/20 not only makes chocolate but also grows cacao. Over the past decade they have invested in 3 cacao plantations in the central region of Venezuela that they manage on-site daily: Hacienda Luna Clara in Mantuano; La Cocorota in San Felipe; and Hacienda Puente Rio in Aroa. They also work with other smallholder farms around the country to craft some origin bars.

VENEZUELAN FLAVORS

20/20 aims to represent the flavors of Venezuela. Green Mango & Sal, for example, was specifically crafted to express the flavors of a typical Venezuelan childhood.

ENVIRONMENTALLY SUSTAINABLE

As of 2024, 20/20 has planted over 60,000 trees, including shade trees, across all of their farms. They are proud to have recovered abandoned plantations and turned them into beautiful, green cacao farms! Moreover, they aim to educate fellow Venezuelans about processing cacao and how they can better support farmers all across the country.

Steps Between Farm and You

20/20 sources from its own farms and also collects from smallholder farms and cooperatives across Venezuela. Their chocolate is crafted at their facility in Valencia, Venezuela. It is then exported to the US and a California-based family member fulfills orders directly to your door and to retailers nationwide.
