About INARU

Meet Janett and Erika Liriano

Inspired by stories of their father's cacao farm in the Dominican Republic, Janett and Erika Liriano discovered a passion: addressing the needs and challenges of the land and the producers that produce some of the finest cacao in the world.

At the height of the pandemic, they closely studied the fractured supply chains and all the people left out of the incredibly profitable chocolate industry and set out to build a better, more inclusive chocolate company. Fueled by this newfound purpose, in 2020 they boldly decided to move from New York, leaving their careers, to begin building INARU in the Dominican Republic.

They spent the first two years focused on foundations: direct farmer contracts, riding around on pick-up trucks to understand every micro-transaction, developing detailed, accountable traceability, and funding regenerative farming practices. The sisters raised investment capital to build a state-of-the-art chocolate factory and brand in the Dominican Republic.

INARU, its factory, farmer partners, and 100% women leadership team not only produce exceptional chocolate, but also champion the cause of quality, equity, financial empowerment, and regenerative agriculture for the industry.

Why We Love Them

Profit Sharing

Without middleman and markups, INARU enriches producers through direct payments via exclusive contracts. Farmers enjoy a profit share from products made from their beans, directly aligning INARU’s success with their own.

Stable Monthly Pay

INARU provides economic stability to farmers through monthly payments instead of once-a-year lump sums.

Sustainable Practices

INARU provides producers in its community cost-free access to tools, resources and training for regenerative production. By processing onshore- the carbon footprint of their products is also oceans lighter.
