Corinne is a Haitian-American Engineer with the Black Girl Magic! Realizing that Haitian Cacao was among the top 50 in the world, she decided to create ethical and gourmet chocolates that Haitians would be proud of and that chocolate connoisseurs worldwide would fall in love with.

Corinne also wanted for her social impact business to generate direct revenues for Haitian farmers; full-time jobs for young women and work opportunities in the Haitian countryside.

Since 2015, Askanya Chocolates are made in Haiti, using natural ingredients, honestly sourced and handcrafted by women. The company has been featured in Serious Eat, USA Today, NPR and Condé Nast. You can find out more about Corinne and Askanya on our blog.

Steps Between Farm and You

Askanya buys directly from Haitian cacao, sugar, and citrus farmers. Chocolates are made at their factory in Ouanaminthe. They ship from their own warehouse in New York.

Haitian farmers grow not only the cacao, but also the sugarcane, oranges and limes used to make their chocolate. They buy directly from 3,000 farmers located in 4 states and pay 2-3x the going rate for their crops.

Empowering Women

Local Haitian women are the chocolate makers who handcraft their bars. They provide direct employment opportunities in Ouanaminthe, Haiti. Women are empowered to learn new skills and earn a consistent income to support their families.
